What is Pay per Click?

Pay per click advertising is an online program where Advertiser’s Ads (Advert) are displayed on your website and you are paid for every valid click on any of such ads on your website. These Adverts are normally hosted by a company (e.g. Google, Yahoo) which serve the ads to your site.

Advertisers usually will place their advert with a company hosting/ providing such service, paid the agree amount base on keyword and the company then recruits individuals/companies with website and serve the ads through their own server to the website of those recruited; normally called Publishers. When the ads are clicked by genuine visitors of your site, you receive certain percentage of the money paid by the advertiser of the advert; these percentages are determined by the company hosting the adverts, based on the keyword that makes up your website which displays the ads, as the ads are largely related to the contents of your webpage.

In other to participate in any of these programs, you must have a website (or a blog) and it must be compliant with the terms and policies of the company to serve the ads to your site. Next you are required to register and provide your full details, the company will review your application once received and after you are approved, they will provide you with the guidelines on how to place the ads on your site. The registration is generally free.

In order to be successful in the realms of ads publishing (pay per click), you must you website must generate a great deal of traffic. That is to say your site contents must be rich and your advertising strategies must be solid. Google AdSense: This is a product of Google and one of the best in the world of pay per click. No doubt Google AdSense sits at the top spot amongst all other ads publishing networks and also offers one of the best; from viability to scalability, from usage to publishing and from earning to payment.

Yahoo Publisher: This is from Yahoo and it’s also doing great in its own jurisdiction. The only limitation is that, it’s only available to US residents currently, weather Yahoo might expand the country list is something I cannot tell

Microsoft adCenter: This like Yahoo Publisher is also available only to US residents. It’s a product of Microsoft.

BidVertiser: This is also another pay per click network that is growing faster and better everyday. Bidvertiser has some great things to offer and I believe it also has all it takes to compete with any other of its type
